THE Commonwealth Flag has been raised by Malvern Hills District Council to mark Commonwealth Day 2019.
On Monday, chairman Cllr Andrea Morgan raised the flag above the Council House in Malvern.
The flag was one of 1,000 Commonwealth Flags flown in countries around the world as a celebration of the organisation’s values of peace, democracy and equality.
Commonwealth Day is held on the second Monday in March each year and is an opportunity for individuals, communities and organisations to promote the values that the Commonwealth stands for.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the modern Commonwealth and the theme, A Connected Commonwealth, celebrates the co-operation of nations working together in friendship and goodwill.
Cllr Morgan said: “I am delighted to raise the flag to mark Commonwealth Day 2019. Flying the flag symbolises the Malvern Hills district joining together with communities across the Commonwealth and the strong bond we share.”
