An audience in Malvern saw a screening of a prize-winning film at Great Malvern Priory last week.

The film, named the ‘Renovation of Malvern Priory Bells and Clock’ was shown to the audience at Great Malvern Priory's Lunch Box event last Thursday.

The film, made by Geoff Fearnehough, won first prize in the 50th Anniversary Inter-Club Film Competition in 2017.

He had filmed the whole process of the bells being removed from the Priory in 2015 and then taken to Whitechapel foundry.

They were then returned with two new bells to make a total of 10 bells.

A unique method of stiffening the frame had been developed because it was previously so flexible that ringing the bells had become difficult.

The next Lunch Box event will be on Thursday March 14.

Guests bring their own lunch to eat in the priory church with tea, coffee and cake available at 12.30. Girls from Malvern St. James, conducted by Lynne Lindner, will be giving a short lunchtime concert at 1 pm.
