A 45-year-old has been banned from getting behind the wheel by magistrates after admitting drink driving.

Marcin Ortyl, of Buckingham Close, Malvern, pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on February 14.

Ortyl was caught by police drink driving in Duke of Edinburgh Way in Malvern on Saturday, January 26.

After being arrested he was taken to the police station where he gave a reading of 71mcg in 100ml of breath - the legal limit being 35mcg.

Ortyl was disqualified from driving for 18 months, but was offered the drink drive awareness course by magistrates which means his ban period will be reduced by 18 weeks, if he successfully completes the course within a year.

Ortyl was fined £276 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30, and costs of £85 - a total of £391.

Ortyl offered to pay the amount off at a rate of £20 a week, which was accepted by magistrates.

The case was heard on February 14.
