MALVERN Rotary Club is once again inviting teams to sign up for its annual charity pancake race, now in its 12th year.

Teams of four from charities and businesses are being invited to sign up for the relay race, which takes place on Shrove Tuesday, March 5, at Priory Park.

This year, there is a new category for teams from schools' Year Six, with prizes sponsored by Morgan Motors.

The elite and veterans events, which start at 12.30pm, are the main fundraisers. Business entries can allocate 50 per cent of the money they raise to a charity of their choice with the balance going to support Rotary causes. Charities can retain 100 per cent of the sponsorship they raise."

Teams of four are sought in the elite (under 50s) and veterans (over 50s) categories; they have to negotiate the course whilst flipping pancakes in a relay format.

The main races are preceded by the toddlers' races, which start at 11.45am.

A major prize this year will be four tickets worth £100 for the Rotary Club's Abba tribute band concert on March 23.

A spokesman for the club said: "We also receive generous support from Malvern Hills District Council and the Malvern Gazette

"Come and join us, either to participate or as a spectator for this fundraising event.

"Proceeds will go to our End Polio Now campaign and local causes."
