A TRIAL date has been set for a man charged with the murder of a transgender woman.

Martin Saberi handed himself in at Stoke Newington Police Station, in Hackney, London, on Monday.

He was charged with the murder of Amy Griffiths, from Droitwich, whose name was also given in court as Michael Griffiths.

A REWARD is being offered for information that leads to the return of sentimental jewellery, worth around £10,000, which was stolen during a burglary in Kidderminster on Thursday evening.

Burglars broke into the house in Firs Close by smashing the glass on the conservatory door between between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on January 17.

A safe which was drilled to a bedroom wall and concealed by a cupboard was stolen, containing around £10,000 worth of jewellery, including two charm bracelets, Tiffany earrings and diamond earrings, as well as passports, credit cards, a wedding certificate and birth certificates.

A BRIERLEY Hill woman who pocketed over £72,000 while working on a supermarket till after getting into a "financial mess" at the end of her marriage and then falling into the clutches of a conman has avoided being locked up.

Susan Barker - described as honest and law abiding - carried out her "sophisticated" fiddle for over two years and her dishonesty cost 300 work colleagues their bonuses.

Recorder Abigail Nixon told Barker: "This was a planned course of clever deception over a long period of time involving a substantial sum of money.
