THE wife of a man reportedly from Worcestershire has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing him to death, according to reports.

John Jones, aged 62, who was born in Kidderminster, according to the Daily Mail, died on Thursday morning in his Malaysian home.

The former firefighter, who worked in Yeovil and Taunton, was allegedly stabbed by his 62-year-old wife, Samantha, following a row.

She has been arrested on suspicion of murder and has been remanded in custody, according to the Daily Mail.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were all deeply saddened by the news of John’s passing and our thoughts are with John’s family and friends at this time.”  A neighbour reportedly found Mr Jones on the floor of his bungalow in Kampung Gelam, Langkawi, Malaysia.

The pair used to live in Somerset but relocated to Malaysia through the Asian country's My Second Home residency scheme.

Some of Mr Jones's relatives still live in Worcestershire.

The Daily Mail reported that Mr Jones has grandchildren, a son, a daughter, three brothers and a sister.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British man following his death in Malaysia, and are in contact with the Malaysian authorities."

He said they were also in contact with the Malaysian police.

The couple reportedly lived on the island of Langkawi for more than 10 years.

Murder carries the death penalty in Malaysia, although the country’s government this week pledged to abolish capital punishment.
