A MARRIED man showed his private parts to a carer after drinking three bottles of wine.

Neil Raha, of Hornyold Road, Malvern, pleaded guilty to exposing himself to the woman, who was left shocked and upset.

The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said she was surprised Raha had not been put on the sex offenders’ register.

Kerry Lovegrove, prosecuting, said Raha committed the offence against the carer on May 30 this year.

The carer thought she saw the 54-year-old touching himself, the court heard.

The defendant followed her and struck up a conversation about flowers, before touching her arm, the prosecution said.

She then saw him touching himself in her peripheral vision and tried to leave, although Raha blocked her way and exposed himself, Ms Lovegrove said.

The carer asked him ‘what the hell are you doing?’, which prompted the defendant to apologise, according to the prosecution.

Mark Sheward, defending, said: “He’s disappointed in himself

"To say he’s ashamed is an understatement.

"He asked for me to apologise today. He’s an educated man in full-time work.”

He added that Raha’s mother-in-law was living with him and his wife at the time, which put pressure on their marriage.

The probation service said the defendant had been to the theatre before the incident and had consumed three bottles of wine, although he has now stopped drinking.

Worcester Magistrates Court told him to pay a £1,250 fine, £500 in compensation and £310 in costs, although he was not added to the sex offenders register.

A manager at the company that the victim works for, which cannot be named for legal reasons, said: "We welcome the court’s verdict in this case.

“Our dedicated team members should not have to face this type of incident when they are providing care to some of the most vulnerable members of our society.

“The safety and wellbeing of our staff is our utmost concern and we will not tolerate any type of abuse of them in their line of work.”
