RESIDENTS are being encouraged to put on their walking boots and join a free Walking for Health group.

The first walk is set to take place on Monday, September 24, arriving before 10.15am for registration and then starting at 10.30am at Cob House Country Park on Worcester Road, near Martley.

The 30 minute to 60 minute walks will then continue on the last Monday of every month.

The new group is open to all abilities and aims to help people lead a more active lifestyle, improve fitness and well-being, and offer the opportunity to meet new people.

Set up by Malvern Hills District Council, the Walking for Health group is working in partnership with Cob House Country Park.

Cllr David Watkins, portfolio holder for housing and communities at Malvern Hills District Council said: “We want to support those who are looking to improve their fitness and well-being and we would encourage residents of all ages to join this new walking group.

"It is also a great opportunity to explore the beautiful green spaces the county has to offer.”

Rachel Vann, physical activity and Well-being Officer for Malvern Hills District Council, said:

“Last year we had an amazing response to our health walk with more than 40 people taking part.

"We hope to continue this success with our future walks and we want people to enjoy getting active and meeting new people.”
