A RECORD number of people, in excess of 2,500, attended last Saturday’s Alfrick & Lulsley Show.

Show president, Garth Lowe opened the show and presented the winners' cups. One of the show's regular exhibitors in the horticultural show, Charlie Hodges commented on how the very wet spring and the very hot summer had affected the crops in the garden which was reflected in the reduction in fresh veg and fruit, and flower exhibits in the horticultural tent.

The weather was fine, and the aerobatic display by local pilot, Richard Goodwin was spectacular.

The event was compered by Mike George of BBC Hereford & Worcester fame, and the crowd was treated to displays of dance by Amy Roberts with students from Worcester School of Dance, and a demonstration of dog training by Gary Watkins of Fortiscorde Gun Dog Training

Other attractions included art and photo displays in the Horticultural Marquee, Exception Dog Show, Classic Cars, train and pony rides, music by Worcester Concert Brass and dozens of sideshows and stalls.

Finally, a flypast of a WWII Battle of Britain Spitfire rounded off the day perfectly.

Show chairman, Rev Anne Potter, in her opening speech thanked the show committee who work tirelessly for nine months putting the show together and what a reward to see so many people coming along to enjoy the afternoon, which was greatly helped by the good weather.

All proceeds from the show go to local good causes and charities.
