MALVERN TOWN 1, CHASETOWN 3

MALVERN Town's slow start to their BGB Southern League Division One Midlands season continued when they entertained high-flying Chasetown at Langland Stadium on Saturday.

In the 10th minute a free-kick from the left brought out a good save as Lewis Skyers in the Malvern goal finger-tipped the ball onto the cross bar. However, from the corner kick, Dean Perrow headed home.

Ten minutes later Malvern played a through ball to Ed Lyons, who ran into the box and was upended by Lee Parsons. A penalty kick was awarded which Lyons slotted away.

In the 30th minute Danny Smith turned on the edge of the area but his shot was well-saved by Skyers.

Just before half-time, Lyons played the ball through to Daniel Harding-Hall, who ran into the box but then fired his effort well over the crossbar when well-placed.

Chasetown started the second-half brightly as Skyers caught a free-kick from the edge of the area, but in the 53rd minute the pressure told when a cross from the right was headed home by man-of-the-match Danny Smith.

Chasetown were going through a purple patch and Skyers smothered a long shot and Nick Hawkins' effort was deflected wide of the net. In the 67th minute a cross from the left was headed home by Paul Spacey to make it 1-3.

In the 80th minute a good through ball found Dean Perrow in the six yard box but his shot was turned away by Skyers and in the 86th minute Craig Holland's long range shot was again parried away by Skyers as he kept the goal score down to three.
