COLWALL Rotary Club president Chris Mill presented a new Citizenship Cup at Colwall CE Primary School’s leavers' service at St James Church in the village.
The cup was awarded to Emily Ryan who is described as an active, involved and popular pupil at the school.
She is also very active in the community in Ledbury, where she lives, taking part amongst other things in the carnival and the youth theatre.
All the Year 6 pupils spoke during the service about their time at the school, the friendships they had formed, the activities and trips they had been on and about their teachers.
Mr Mill said: “Some had even written their own poems to say what they wanted to say. All spoke clearly, confidently and eloquently. It was a revelation and a strong reflection on the pupils and the school.
"The teachers also spoke about the pupils and other cups were awarded. SATs were mentioned once in passing, otherwise the words used were about values, being kind and helpful, creativity, flair, imagination, problem solving, sportsmanship, courage and bravery.
“It was a real eye-opener for someone like me and I could not speak more highly about the service or the school.”
