MALVERN Town boss Paul Molloy believes the signs are promising for his team despite losing their first two games.

The Langland Stadium side were beaten 4-2 by Romulus on the opening day of the Southern League Division One Midlands season and 2-0 at Evesham United on Tuesday.

But Molloy was pleased with the way his players responded from the Romulus defeat, even if they failed to register a point against the Robins at St George's Lane in midweek.

Chasetown, who have a 100 per cent record from their first two games, are the visitors to Malvern on Saturday (3pm) and Molloy is in positive mood.

He said: "I was pleased with the way we played against Evesham although I was not happy with the result.

"It was a lot more encouraging and we played a lot better. Everybody was up for it after the Saturday defeat.

"I think we deserved a draw, we had as good chances as them but they took theirs and we didn't.

"If we play like that we will win a lot more than we lose."

Malvern have secured the signature of centre-half Andy Jones from Telford and he goes straight into the team for the Chasetown match in the continued absence of Carl Smith (suspended) and Andy Cartwright (broken leg).

Gary Walker, made available to Malvern by Worcester City, suffered a hamstring injury against Evesham and is out for two weeks.
