A FUNDRAISER has raised hundreds of pounds for a Malvern charity by running the Zwolle Half Marathon.

Judy Gudgeon took part in the race to help raise awareness and fundraise for Malvern Special Families.

The popular event saw over 8,500 athletes run 21kms around the historic town of Zwolle in the Netherlands.

Judy ran the race in a new personal best of two hours nine minutes, raising £347.50 so far in the process.

Judy, one of the trustees of Malvern Special Families, said: “I’m delighted to have represented Malvern Special Families in the Netherlands.

"It was a really scenic half marathon with a great atmosphere and I was spurred on by all the support I’ve received.

"I’m proud to volunteer for such a wonderful small charity because I have seen first-hand the excellent clubs and play schemes the charity provides for children and young people with disabilities, and I know what a positive difference the charity makes.”

Cassie Zoro, the charity's community fundraiser, said: “Congratulations to Judy on her Half Marathon - it is such a fantastic achievement. We are delighted that Judy chose to run for Malvern Special Families and proud to have her representing our charity at such an incredible international running event.”
