SOME residents were left without water this morning after a burst pipe affected supplies to around 2,000 homes.

Severn Trent Water sent engineers to fix the broken pipe, which disrupted water supplies in Upton overnight.

A spokesman for the company said: "This morning we’ve discovered the burst pipe in a field which may be causing water supplies to be off or at low pressure for customers in the Upton area.

"Our teams of engineers are on site now and will work as quickly as they can to get this pipe fixed and everything back to normal as quickly as possible.

"We know how difficult it is to have no water, especially on a Saturday morning, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this causes.

"We’d like to reassure our customers that we’re doing everything we can to get water supplies back on as soon as we can.

"We're moving water around our network in a different way and we're using tankers to inject water into our pipes in the area."

The company will offer updates about the incident on its Twitter page @stwater

UPDATE (10.25am): Severn Trent Water says water should now be back on for all those affected.
