MALVERN School of Art is making its final preparations for a week-long sale and exhibition of of small affordable artworks.

The event, which opens on Monday, June 11, will feature original artworks created by many of the artists taking part in the Worcestershire Open Studios weekend at the end of August.

Drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, collage, jewellery and even ceramics are all expected to be included.

Visitors will have a chance to bid for the artwork in a silent auction to help raise funds for the Malvern branch of Amnesty International.

All the works are seven by five inches in size and is signed on the back. The creators’ names will be only revealed when the auction closes at 4pm on Saturday, June 16, and purchasers discover whose work they have bought.

Worcestershire Open Studios co-organiser Cherrie Mansfield said: “With prices starting at just £15, this is a great opportunity to snap up a piece of unique artwork made here in our wonderful county.

"Some of the artists taking part are just starting out, while others are well-established and are nationally and internationally recognised.

"It’ll be interesting to see how astute viewers are at spotting whose work is whose!”

The show takes place in the cafe area at the school of art in Albert Road North, from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday.

It will culminate on the Saturday afternoon with a reception for artists, sponsors, media contacts and visitors and the sale of work to the highest bidders.
