IT will be two for the price of one when Malvern Male Voice Choir will be joined in concert by the 50-strong Launceston Male Voice Choir from Cornwall.

This special gala event, which is being staged at Great Malvern Priory, is in aid of Cancer Research UK, a charity that the choir supports every year; an earlier concert in support of this charity had to be cancelled due to snow in March.

The varied programme is set to include Welsh male voice choir standards, a short medley from Les Miserables, other showstoppers from stage and screen and a few pop favourites.

Launceston Male Voice Choir, which is on a weekend tour from its home base in East Cornwall, has been invited to sing in Malvern by Nicholas Hewlitt, secretary of the choir.

He said: “I sang with members of Launceston Male Voice Choir before I moved to Malvern and it will be a real privilege to introduce my old Cornish friends to my new friends in Malvern.

"The evening will be Malvern Male Voice Choir’s first public appearance for this year and it will be a rare treat to have these two very well established choirs performing together.”

The concert is on on Saturday, April 28, at 7.30 pm. Tickets (£10, 18s and under free) are available in advance from Burley Hairdressers or 01684 892772. Tickets, which include light refreshments, will also available on the door.
