A GROUP of community fundraisers is taking on the challenge of Forest Warrior, an extreme 12km mud and obstacle course for Malvern Special families.

The team of fundraisers have been training hard for the challenge during which they will have to run through swamps, crawl through tunnels, climb scramble nets and plunge into an icy river.

The event takes place in the Forest of Dean on Sunday, April 22, and is described as an extreme 12km mud and obstacle course. Forest Warrior is packed full of hill runs, climb-overs, crawl-throughs, monkey bars, mud and obstacles.

Team member Kamil Kucharewicz, who works at Harvey’s Hair Salon in Malvern, said: “The support and donations from Harvey’s salon customers are really keeping us motivated. It helps to know when you are out running in the rain that we are are raising money for such a good cause.”

Malvern Special Families is a charity supporting families who have children with disabilities. It supports over 175 families, providing clubs and play schemes for children and young people with disabilities aged between 5 and 19 in out-of-school hours in Malvern and Worcester.

Cassie Zoro, community fundraiser, said: “It hasn’t been easy training in this weather, but we will have some fun with the challenge on the day and are hoping to raise over £500 for Malvern Special Families charity.”
