UPTON could be set to expand its foreign links if proposals to twin the town come to fruition.
Town councillor Tim Drake suggested twinning Upton with a riverside town somewhere in Europe during a council meeting.
"A beautiful place like Upton should share itself and it would be nice to have an exchange of cultures," said Coun Drake. "It could also bring some great business to the town."
Coun Mary Wilkinson said there had been a lot of support for twinning several years ago, but that nothing ever came of it. "It's not just about a jolly for the councillors, it's about stretching the hand of friendship to other nations," she said.
