I have met with the tenants of Fir Tree Walk and listened to the problems that are being encountered with the car park.

The car park was provided for the benefit of the tenants of Fir Tree Walk, but it appears that, particularly in the evenings, the car park is filled with people drinking at the public houses situated in the main Worcester Road, plus various restaurants not connected with the Fir Tree. Spice Cottage restaurant and Premier Pizza restaurant, who occupy premises within the Fir Tree developments, cannot then provide space for the parking of their customers.

In the daytime, people patronising various other trades, but having nothing to do with the Fir Tree, regularly park taking up valuable parking space.

Since the wheel clamping was introduced, which I should make very clear I had no knowledge of, or authorised clamping to be implemented, traders from Malvern Link have actually approached our tenants and complained that the wheel clamping is affecting their customers, as though they have a right to this facility.

I am now aware that the tenants want some form of control of the use of this facility and it appears that we will be putting in a pay and display machine, with a reasonable amount of permitted parking, and then and only then will wheel clamping be implemented if people do not pay and display or if they exceed the permitted time.
