LOCALLY-based choral society Philomusica will be singing in support of Christian Aid at the Church of St James the Great, Colwall, tomorrow, (Saturday).

The programme is entitled Shakespeare in Song and will include choral music and solo items featuring words by Shakespeare.

The composers represented include Parry, Vaughan Williams and John Rutter.

There'll also be a chance to hear the jazz-influenced choral work Songs and Sonnets by renowned jazz pianist George Shearing, who this month visited Buckingham Palace to receive from a knighthood.

The choir and Philomusica's soloists will be accompanied by Valerie Tomalin (piano) and Alastair Reid (organ).

Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £7 and accompanied children under 16 will be admitted free.
