PLANS to build homes on land around a currently deserted village pub will be up before district councillors next week.
Dalelong Ltd of Foregate Street, Worcester, has applied to build up to 14 houses on land at the Pheasant in Welland, near Malvern.
The pub is sited at the crossroads in the centre of the village, just across the road from St James Church and from the Welland Primary School and Community Centre.
A previous application, to build 19 houses, was refused in September 2014 on the grounds of overdevelopment.
But the current application is being recommended for approval when Malvern Hills District Council's southern area development control committee meets on Wednesday, February 15.
Two objections were received by residents, citing concerns such as increased traffic activity, the impact on village services, and flood risk on the land.
