POWICK Playing Field Association is holding its annual fete and sports day on Saturday, July 14 from 2-4.30pm.

The event is held on the playing field behind the school, entry from the parish hall entrance gate and the Old Malvern Road. All the usual stalls, toys, plants, books, nearly new, bric-a-brac etc. There will be cakes, cream teas, ice-cream and a bar and raffle. For entertainment, there will be Swingtime jazz and blues band, Malvern Hills Gymnastics Club, giant slide and children's sports. There will also be a car boot.

This Sunday, a family service at St Peter's Church will celebrate its patron saint, St Peter. A flower festival will be held with the church open tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday and will include a children's competition of a flower garden in miniature in a seed tray. The service at 11am will also include the Junior Church from St James', Callow End. Children's miniature gardens can be brought to St Peter's tomorrow between 10am and noon and prizes will be given out at the Sunday service. Gardens may be collected at 4pm on Sunday or at 8.30am on Monday. There is a communion service at 9.30am on Sunday at St James', Callow End but no Junior Church.
