THE creators of Malvern's newest brewery will be hosting a promotional evening for their beers at a town centre hotel on Friday night (November 11).

The Lakehouse Brewing Company is the creation of Adrian Frost and Graeme Gordon, who create their beers at premises off Peachfield Road on the edge of Malvern.

Friday will see them at the Great Malvern Hotel in Graham Road, where their Lakehouse Pale Ale has just gone on sale.

Mr Gordon said: "It's gone down very well in several local pubs already, including the Three Kings and the Wyche Inn. We will also be giving away free samples of our Quarryman amber session ale.

"The business is the brainchild of my business partner, Adrian Frost, whom I've known for a few years. As an artist, I'd rented some studio space from him.

"On my return from a film shoot early last year, I arrived back to find three large brewing vessels in the yard. Adrian told me that he thought it would be great to brew ale from the Lake House and asked if I'd like to be involved.

"I hadn't had any direct experience in all-grain brewing at the time, but had always had a passing interest in it, as it was said that my mother's family had made their money brewing beer throughout the late 1800s-early 1900s in the Fort Royal area of Worcester.

"Since the decision was made to build the brewery, we've had the opportunity to travel the country and work with some influential and well connected brewers in the craft beer scene, from where much of the inspiration has come for the new beers that will be released over the next few months. However, our initial intent was to produce a couple of relatively traditional ales that we felt would have broad appeal locally."
