THE Malvern Probus Club held a meeting at the Abbey Hotel Malvern on the morning of July 4. The speaker was Mr Mike Ansfield who gave a very interesting, illustrated talk about his father’s experiences in the Pathfinder Squadron during WW11.
It followed his training in Canada and subsequent desperately dangerous operations over Germany. Following the loss of his Lancaster bomber during action, and the loss of five of his crew he was a POW in Germany until the war ended.
These experiences were retold with information gained from research in both Germany and Canada supported by aircraft parts recovered from the crash scene.
More interesting talks are to follow during the year. Next Meeting is on July 18 at 10am at the Abbey Hotel Malvern.
