BLUEBELL time is here (at last!) and the roadsides between West Malvern and British Camp are already splashed with spectacular colour, especially towards the Black Hill car park area. The display is something no-one living in West Malvern should miss each year: if you are a newcomer don't fail to see it. Meanwhile our very own bluebell field opposite Old Hollow is a little behind other areas but should be reaching its peak in the next few days – one of the great sights of the district.

This week West Malvern can boast another sporting celebrity – albeit a minor, four-legged one! Your correspondent's Jack Russell bitch was placed second in the Waggiest Tail class at Sunday's White House Vets' Doggy Fun Show on the Link Common. Since she won exactly the same award at one of the earlier shows some years ago, and as Sunday's rosette was specifically for the 'quickest wag', Kim is now claiming the title of The Fastest Wag in the West!

Sorry, you can tell it's a slow news week, as we await further developments in the Brewers' Arms story! But don't forget to book 8pm on May 19 at the Elim Theatre for the big update meeting on the bid to take over the pub for the community. Before then, there could be more news at the Parish Council's Annual Parish Meeting at the Village Hall at 7.45pm this Monday, May 9, when Rob Underwood from the Saving Hearts Foundation will also be demonstrate how to use the newly installed defibrillator now housed outside the hall.
