THIS weekend, members of the Ledbury Community Choir (of which I am one) are visiting Ledbury’s twinned town, Stromstad in Sweden. We will be singing with the Tontamjarna choir there and putting on a joint performance to mark St George’s Day. We are all busy practising ABBA songs and preparing ourselves to eat pickled fish. Don’t miss next week’s report-back!

Exciting things are happening in the village at Pool Piece, the small recreational area near the pub: a slide is being set up against the embankment. This promises to provide loads of fun and entertainment for the children, and hopefully for the adults too. Keep a look out for the finished look.

This Sunday is Morning Worship, 9.30am, at Christ Church. All are welcome. Prayers continue on Wednesday mornings at 9.30am.

The following Sunday, 1 May, will be quite different: congregants from across the parishes are meeting at Yatton old church at 10am, and venturing off on a Rogation Walk with the final destination being Much Marcle. Once there, everyone will pile into cars and head to the barn at Aylton for a ploughman’s lunch. Bring your rain-jackets (just in case), your stick and some money. For more details, please phone Hugh Ransome-Williams on 01531 633835.

On Thursday it is the monthly Curious Blend Coffee morning at the Memorial Hall, 10am – 12 noon. All villagers are welcome, and whether you’re a long-standing resident or a newcomer to the village, why not come along and enjoy getting to know some of the other folk?

And a thought to end with: ‘Live each day as though your life had just begun.’ (Von Goethe).

Have a splendid week!
