MALVERN Splash is organising an open day on Saturday (January 23) to mark the creation of a new reception area and cafe.

Freedom Leisure, which operates the pool in Priory Road on behalf of Malvern Hills District Council, has invested £100,000 in the work.

The redesigned reception area is aimed at offering a more accessible, open and customer friendly area, and the cafe now has a new servery and counter.

Saturday's open day will include free tasters of Ignite, Malvern Splash’s new 30-minute gym-floor sessions which have been specifically designed for Freedom Leisure, at 9.30am and 10am.

Led by specially trained coaches, Ignite Core uses the latest core training techniques, whilst Ignite Conditioning is a full-body training session using the latest functional training equipment.

Swimmers will be able to use the pool for just £1 before noon, and there will also be free sessions in the gym, which has als been refurbished.

All timetabled classes will be running as normal, including yoga, body pump, zumba and metafit sessions.

“We are delighted to be hosting an open day to celebrate the new facilities here at Malvern Splash,” said manager Ian Bonsall. “The centre has already received a £300,000 investment from Freedom Leisure to create a brand-new gym and spinning studio, which we hope will encourage more of the local community to come and get active.”

Cllr David Watkins, the district council's portfolio holder for healthier communities, said, “I’m impressed by the improvements Freedom Leisure has made at the Splash. The new reception area provides a welcoming entrance for users while the upgraded café will provide a relaxing place for people to socialise and if they haven’t already, try out the excellent leisure facilities on offer.”

A range of discounted membership offers will also be available on the day.
