A schoolboy who dived headfirst into his own personal challenge has raised hundreds of pounds for Children In Need.

Felix Freeman took it upon himself to swim 200 metres to raise money for the cause after he was inspired to help by watching the charity's annual television fundraising appeal.

Although his original target was to raise £500, his efforts have so far equated to £920.

Seven year-old Felix, of Longdon, near Upton, said: "I want people to play with their friends and I don't want their friends to worry. I know that this money will help them."

He completed the swim on Wednesday at Colwall's Elms School, which he attends and was cheered on by family, staff and friends.

His mother, Ida Freeman, said: "He's not a particularly strong swimmer, so it was really big challenge for him.

"A lot of u thought it would take him a long time do it, but he finished the swim in about five minutes.

"We're all really proud of him. For him to want to do this all by himself is just great."
