A HOTEL in the Malvern Hills famed for being the destination of choice for Margaret Thatcher has been sold.

The Cottage in the Wood, which was once dubbed the best view in England by the Daily Mail, was on the market with an asking price of £1.75 million.

And a buyer has now been found by Christie and Co, the specialist property advisor which handled the sale.

Gavin Wright, director of Christie and Co, said: “The Hotel has been successfully run by the Pattin family for over 27 years.

“John and Sue Pattin will retire but their son and daughter, Dominic and Maria, will remain working in the business.

“The successful buyer Nick Davies and his wife Julia have moved from London and will be actively involved in running the hotel.”

The hotel comprises of 30 en-suite bedrooms across three buildings and also features an award-winning two AA rosette restaurant.
