LEDBURY & District U3A Local History Group recently visited The Museum of Carpet in Kidderminster.
The Museum is housed in a Grade II listed mill built in 1855 and contains many fine working examples of hand looms, spinning wheels and two fully mechanised looms employed in the manufacture of Axminster and Wilton Carpets. Each was enthusiastically demonstrated by Volunteer Members of Museum Staff.
The Museum provides inspiring stories of great inventions, wealth, poverty and hard work which is Kidderminster's living legacy to over 300 years endeavour to carpet manufacture.
At the successful conclusion of our visit someone said, "I shall look where I step now."
