DRAMATIC and captivating pictures of the Malvern Hills coated in snow is the perfect antidote to the mild winter we have experienced this year.

Photographer Jan Sedlacek has curated a selection of his favourite pictures of the hills taken from interesting viewpoints in rare weather and light conditions for his Winter Wonderland exhibition at Malvern Theatres.

Mr Sedlacek, from Digilight Photography, has selected a mixture of large panoramic and classic size canvases showing Malvern Hills and Malvern in their full winter glory.

"As we had some quite boring winters lately I decided to dedicate the exhibition to some of my best wintery shots from the area I took during last seven years.

"I would like to invite people to come and see some snow and winter drama at least through my photographic work.

"A little reminder of how beautiful can proper winters be around here."

The 35-year-old photographer, who is originally from Prague and has been based in Malvern for nine years, said he planned to hold seasonal exhibitions at the theatres on Grange Road.

"Winter is one of my favourite seasons for photography due to great variety of elements playing role for my atmospheric landscapes.

"Elements like snow, frost, hoarfrost, daytime and night time dense mists and, as we are in England, winter floods are great assets form my photographs as they all bring drama to my shots and changes normal looking scenes to extraordinary ones.

"The quality of light is much better in winter as the sun shines under lower angle through cold air creating wormer light and clarity through out most of the winter months.

"Wintery cold air and clear skies are also great for night time photography which I took on recently and spend a lot of time mastering it.

"You will be able to see some of the night panoramic photographs on my exhibition.

"I often start as early as 4am when the conditions are right and usually stay out till about 11am depending on the conditions.

"Lots of weather elements I use for my photographs are rare and I have to often wait for months, sometimes years, for them to realise as I pre-visualised for my photographs.

"So once everything clicks, I am out there for hours trying to get the most out of them and to bring the beauty back with me for others to see."

Winter Wonderland will run at Malvern Theatres for the next two months.
