THE Open Gardens Day last Sunday was a wonderful opportunity for residents to take pleasure not only in the beautiful gardens on display, but also to enjoy a time of socialising under clear blue skies!
Approximately 150 people passed through the gardens and an amount of just over £1,200 was raised for St Michael’s Hospice. Many thanks to all for their efforts.
The next Open Garden Day is August 10, 2pm–6pm, when Dogberry Cottage (The Common) and The View (Ochre hill) will be open. Entry for adults is £5, children are free, and dogs are not welcome on this occasion. Refreshments and plants will be on sale. Parking is available at The Farmers Arms.
You may like to diarise Sunday, September 7 for the annual Village Cricket Day, courtesy of Ian and Jenny Mackie at Dillon’s Orchard, 2.30pm–5.30pm. But, remembering the stormy weather that washed out the cricket day last year, please also keep the following Sunday (September 14) free as a back- up date.
Christ Church services are Sunday 9.30am (Family Communion) and Wednesday prayers, 9.30am.
Safe travelling to all who are going away and happy holidays to the children and students. Enjoy the summer!
