POWICK Bell Ringers rang a quarter peal last week to celebrate the safe arrival of Daniel Freely (grandson of Roger and Sally Gurney).

The Union Jack was seen flying from the Church Tower to mark the 31st birthday of the Duke of Cambridge (Prince William) and on Sunday the cross of St George flew to mark St John the Baptist’s Day on Monday.

Pupils from both Callow End Primary and Powick Primary Schools will have attended the Lifepath event in Malvern Priory where they will have learnt about the life of a monk and taken part in many activities and crafts associated with mediaeval life.

Recently, pupils from Callow End attended the Three Counties Show on the Friday and the choir from Powick Primary, with Jan Appleby, sang as part of the Diocesan tent sing-a-long, with many schools taking part.

The coffee shop in Callow End village hall was very well supported last Wednesday. Do come along – it is open every Wednesday from 2.30pm to 4pm – and meet new (and old ) friends over a cup of tea or coffee and a piece of homemade cake.

Next week Powick Ramblers have an evening walk on Thursday, meeting at 6pm at the Fox and Hounds, Lulsley.

The short walk around the area will be led by Garth (01886 833362) and end with a fish and chips supper.
