MURDER on the Disoriented Express Find the felon in Cradley Village Players first mystery drama, Saturday, July 13.

For their next show, talented local drama group Cradley Village Players aren’t staging a conventional play but their first murder mystery – and they need you to determine who dunnit.

At the start of a night like no other, you’ll join the Disorientated Express – the world’s most famous luxury train – for its journey from Istanbul to Constantinople.

It’s 1938. Though war looms, her Pullman coaches are packed with the rich and famous on the voyage of a lifetime.

The Express has an unequalled reputation for reliability and punctuality – its demanding patrons expect no less – but today all that will change since one of its most celebrated passengers is due to meet a sticky end.

But who? And who did the deed? Victim or villains may include any of Europe’s superstars including Werner Von Black, the rising rocket designer; Sigmund Froid, the chilly Austrian analyst who’s keen to decipher your dreams; Heidi Evidence, the beguiling bank clerk from Berne; Ivan Ego, Russia’s ingenious inventor; Dee Sypher, cloak and dagger code breaker; Herr Cutt, the German barber who always carries his sharpened scissors; Kiki De’Leggs, the French cancan dancer with the perfect pins; Ed Lines, hot-shot reporter from the New York Times; Lida Hosen, the leading lady of lingerie; daring dress designer Jean Paul Gauteebeard; Maria Vontrapped, the shopaholic singer whose favourite things take up half a carriage and Jemma Stone, the diamond trader who always sparkles.

One of them won’t see journey’s end and, as they act out this most moving of dramas, CVP’s talented cast will drop some heavy hints on who did what to whom. To learn the full story, you must look, listen and ask the right questions in the hope of persuading your favourite suspect to reveal more of his or her secret story.

By the end of the night - encouraged by a succulent supper and a glass or two of wine - you’ll have decoded cryptic clues and distinguished fib from fact to guess the guilty party before the truth is finally revealed as we pull into our final station stop.

The journey begins at 7.30pm on Saturday, July 13 at Platform One in Cradley School. Tickets to ride cost £10 each or £15 for a couple, to include supper and a first glass of wine.

They can be booked from Cradley Post Office and Stores or via Cradleyvillageplayers.com.

Proceeds from the evening will be shared between CVP and a local charity. CVP is an energetic nonprofessional drama company on the Hereford/Worcester border.

In 2007, they won Arts Council funds to stage The Crowns of Cradley – a play that brought local history to life – in their own 250-seat tented theatre. In 2011 they moved the pews from Cradley Church for Mystery and Merriment - their version of the medieval mystery play.
