SEVENTEEN Powick Ramblers met at The Bridge Inn at Stanford Bridge, near Martley, last Wednesday, for a four-and-a-half mile walk.

The route began by crossing the River Teme over the old bridge, past the shops to the drive of Stanford Court. Paths though arable land with the first signs of yellow oil seed rape in blossom, led to woodland.

Five of Powick Ramblers joined a Musical Meander organised by Upton Folk Festival last Monday Bank Holiday.

From Upton Rugby field, 50 walkers set out to walk to the Three Kings Inn at Hanley Castle, led by Mike and Ann Finn (from Hallow).

Bank Holiday Monday was busy at Link Nurseries when members of the public enjoyed coffee and cakes and were able to buy flower and vegetable plants. Plants sales resulted in £1,036 while the Friends benefited from £116 from coffee and cake sales.

Friday’s coffee morning was heralded by rain, but a dozen people watched the demonstration of planting a hanging basket given by manager Jane Smart, and £45 was made in coffee sales.

The next open morning will be on Bank Holiday Monday, May 27, from 10am to 3.30pm.
