TWENTY members attended the AGM on May 2.

Notice was given of the nationally suggested proposal to communicate with members by e-mail wherever possible, and this was supported by 13 votes to seven. Recent legislation has affected both the use of company cars and the charity status of organisations; members will be informed of how the WI nationally will be affected.

The formal branch AGM was held with 20 members present to hear a review of the past year. The financial and secretarial reports were presented and passed, and Eileen Jauncey was elected president.

Notice was given of WI group meetings – at Regent’s College on June 20 at 10.30am, when Bridget Sawbridge will speak on Sustainable Living; and at Madresfield at a time to be arranged. Worcester WI Federation activity days will include maths for fun, bowls, photography, knitting and adapting techniques workshop and also a taster day.

The national WI AGM will this year be held in Cardiff, when the main resolution will call for action to halt the decline of our high streets.

Members are encouraged to support their local shops and those present supported the resolution unanimously.

The next meeting will be at 2.30pm on Thursday, June 6, in The Citadel, Newtown Road, when Wendy Hall will deliver a talk entitled Elgar – Part Two.
