AT the Curious Blend coffee morning held last week in the Memorial Hall, Anne Abbotts introduced Jennifer Harrison, who has been working on a project entitled We Will Remember Them.

Scanning the newspapers of the time, the service records, and the common war graves, Jennifer has put skin and bones on the names on the stones to commemorate the men from the village who died in World War I.

The morning tea at the home of the Warrens to listen to Jill’s presentation of the Christian Aid theme for the year, Enough Food for Everyone If… highlighted the need for commitment not only from individuals, but also from the Government and large companies.

It is reported that in the world today, 870 million people go hungry. Zimbabwe is one of the countries under the spotlight.

In the next few days, Christian Aid envelopes will be distributed in the area.

You are encouraged to place a donation inside which will be collected soon afterwards (May 12-18).

Have you thought of trying Nordic walking? Shirley recommends it and you can call Kate on 07977 593211 for a free taster session.

A parish plan questionnaire has been distributed, asking for your opinions if you reside in the Wellington Heath parish. Have your answers ready to be collected on May 15. If you have any queries, call Richard Hurley on 01531 633230.

The Garden Club meet on Wednesday, 7.45pm for 8pm in the Memorial Hall.
