Commencing on Monday next, the 20th instant, an important alteration will take place in the evening mail delivery. This, which has hitherto not commenced until 7.30pm, will in future start at 7pm. The earlier hour will no doubt be welcomed by business people as it will enable them to attend to many business letters the same evening, which in many cases has not hitherto been possible, the delivery not being effected until the majority of business houses have closed. A delivery to callers at the Head Post Office counter will also be made daily at 7.30pm.

The view that Malvern Public Library has a good chance of remaining independent if the council so wishes is held by the Librarian, Mr N H Parker. In a report on the service in Malvern in relation to the standards suggested by the Ministry of Education working party, Mr Parker - a member of the working party - states that at the present level of population, the service envisaged by those standards would be slightly less expensive if provided by the county, but when the population went beyond 30,000 the cost should not differ whether under the county or not.

A Colwall haven for plant life could become a picturesque picnic site if villagers give their support. A meeting has been called by Colwall Parish Council to discuss the future of the site, and the public is invited to attend. The two-acre area of scrubland is currently owned by British Rail and adjacent to Colwall station. But it is due to be auctioned only two days after the meeting and the parish council is considering whether to bid for it. Parish councillors fell that the sire could be an asset to the community, at the same time preserving wildlife.
