THE guild has had a very active few weeks.

On October 26 a workshop by Alyson Midgelow- Marsden featured creating Antiqued Waxed and Stitched Papers.

The next day Alyson gave the annual celebrity lecture, whose title was Babies, Beetroots and Bunsen Burners.

This lecture gave a fascinating insight into her varying career creating and promoting highly original textile work.

Many varied and amazing examples of her work were on show.

On Saturday, November 3, a most enjoyable workshop given by Annette Emms resulted in a group of members making quirky, charming felted characters for bookmarks or cards.

The regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 6, featured quilt artist Lesley Brankin in Print, Paint, Stitch, an illustrated talk in the techniques of pictorial elements for quilts.

Finally on Wednesday, November 7, a workshop by Wendy Cotterill gave members the opportunity to make a range of reference samples utilising a range of synthetic spunbonded fabrics.

The next regular monthly meeting will be on Tuesday, featuring members in a Share and Tell session talking about embroidery.

The annual Meadows’ Trophy will be judged, the subject being A Tea Cosy for Mrs Meadows.

Meetings are held at Perdiswell Young People’s Leisure Centre at 1.30pm for 2pm. New members and visitors are welcome.
