PEOPLE of all ages are doing their bit to support Pudsey Bear as part of the annual Children in Need appeal.

More than 2,000 children across Malvern and Worcestershire led the way helping disadvantaged children and young people across the UK by taking part in a synchronised ‘Massage for Pudsey’ event last week.

Ahead of the live television broadcast airing on BBC One tonight (Friday), a total of 10 schools took part in the programme based on a specially devised weather story and delivered by Kidderminsterbased Go Wellbeing, helping create a relaxed learning environment for children.

Youngsters drew pictures using hand massage techniques to create different weather scenarios on the back of the child in front of them.

Among those taking part were 136 pupils at Welland Primary School.

Their headteacher Rachael Huff said: “Pupils came to school in their own clothes and it was an exciting opportunity for them to take part in a special activity for Children in Need.”

On Wednesday, staff and students at South Worcester College’s Evesham and Malvern sites mimicked chart-topping South Korean pop sensation PSY in a Gangnam Style dance.

And they will also be baking up some tasty treats for a cake sale today.

Members of staff at The Malvern Hotel, in Grovewood Road, will be taking part in a 15-hour cyclethon on a static gym bike in the hotel’s reception from 6.30am.

About 40 girls from the junior section of Malvern Springs Netball Club were also set to don their pyjamas for their training session in the sports hall at Dyson Perrins CE Academy, today.

The Foster Care Co-operative is holding a tea and coffee morning at its office in The Haysfield, Spring Lane North, between 10am and 2pm. There will be cakes, a tombola and a raffle.

Malvern-based charity Arcos, which helps children and adults who have communication, eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties, is staging a number of quizzes and games to support the appeal at its office in Hatherton Lodge, Avenue Road, throughout the month, between 10am-4pm Monday to Friday.

The charity has received funding from Children in Need to set up a sensory room and music room as part of its SMILE (Sensation and Movement Interaction for Life Experience) project.
