MALVERN’S famous Morgan Motor Company says a fundraising race pitting one of its cars against a steam engine from the Severn Valley Railway was such a success that it hopes to do it all again next year.

The charity challenge, which has raised more than £5,000 to date for Children in Need, saw Coronation Street and former Hollyoaks actor Tony Hirst steer a Morgan 3-Wheeler to victory against 130 tonne locomotive Sir Keith Park, with Sky Sports presenter Vicky Gomersall riding on the footplate.

Beverley Moore, of Morgan, said the challenge was a big hit with all involved.

“Both celebrities made a lot of children smile that day,” she said.
