A CHEEKY charity calendar to honour the life of a popular man who died in a car crash last year has officially achieved lift-off.

The Game Birds 2013 calendar, which features 24 women from the Bromyard and Leominster area almost baring all in a variety of country pursuit poses, was unveiled at the Midlands Air Ambulance’s Strensham air base.

To date the charity has raised about £16,000 in the memory of Richard Warr and aims to collect more than £25,000 in total.

The 21-year-old, of Pencombe, who worked at Laylocks Garden Centre, Bromyard Road, Worcester, died when his Mazda pick-up truck collided with a Seat Ibiza near Bayton, Herefordshire, in August 2011.

The daring calendar is now on sale in about 20 outlets in and around Bromyard, Pencombe, Lower Broadheath, Hereford and Leominster.

The charity has three aircraft operating from three bases and serving the communities of Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and the West Midlands with an average of 3,000 missions a year.

It costs more than £6 million a year to keep the charity flying.

Laylocks Garden Centre was started by Richard’s father Martin Warr in 1973. The present site – off the A44 Worcester to Bromyard Road – was bought in 1981.
