HOW did people date in Jane Austen’s day, when swiping right was probably an instruction for a rapier duel?

Find out through Jenny Wren Productions , with a playful adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel, Emma.

And just like a old-fashioned duel, it will take place outdoors.

A spokesman said: “Beautifully recreating the Austen classic whilst giving it the quirky Jenny Wren touch, we join our heroine, Emma as she tries to constantly pair off her unfortunate friend Harriet Smith with unsuitable men.

“She is convinced that for herself however, the single life is the only way.” The spokesman added: “Matches are made and unmade quicker than you can say how delightful, but after all the outrageous flirting, declarations of love and heaving of bosoms, will Emma’s heart escape unscathed? As Jane Austen writes, members of her family become her characters; blushing heroines, dashing suitors and dastardly cads and many more, bringing her story of the ultimate matchmaker to mischievous life.”

Jenny Wicks, Director said: “Rehearsals are going well and we’re excited about bringing this well known and beloved novel to life at an open air venue near you.

“Please bring a blanket or a chair.”

The performance will take place on Saturday, August 4, in Priory Park, Malvern.

The performance starts at 7pm. The grounds will open at 6pm for picnics.
