AFTER five months of a classical music and supporting homegrown talent, a Rhyl institution is approaching its denouement.

It’s that time of year once again for the final shows of the Rhyl Music Club’s (RMC) International Concert Series at the Town Hall.

With bi-monthly concerts stretching back to October, the club has welcomed musicians from all over the world for its 2019-2020 programme, and will feature cellist Evva Mizerska and Guildhall School of Music professor Emma Abbate together for its penultimate show on Wednesday, March 4.

Stephen Leeder, RMC concert organiser, said: "Our next concert features an Italian pianist and a Polish cellist, both now living in London and having professional careers.

"Evva Mizerska was described by Strad magazine as a “rising star” of the cello while Musica magazine described Emma Abbate as an “amazingly talented pianist”."

Mizerska, who studied in Warsaw, is involved in various music groups but plays and records with Abbate, who originally trained originally in Naples.

The pair have performed together for international festivals in Salzburg, Naples and Koscierzyna as well as at many UK venues including St George’s in Bristol and Fairfield Halls.

Their discography includes world-première recordings by Krzysztof Meyer and Algernon Ashton, and their programme will feature music by Beethoven, Brahms, Faure and De Falla.

The show will also focus on the club's other key priority of providing a platform for rising stars alongside established international musicians.

Mizerska will present a special award to fellow cellist Gwydion Rhys, of Bangor, who performed at the club's Young Musicians Concert in November. For the final show of the series, the club will also welcome the North Wales section of the Only Boys Aloud choir on Wednesday 18.

Mr Leeder added: "The club is committed to providing opportunities for young musicians, and a special award will Gwydion will perform a magical short piece of music by Faure - Apres le reve - with Emma."

Both of the club's final two shows take place at 7.30pm. Tickets for the Wednesday 4 show are £15, and £10 for the Wednesday 18 performance. To book visit rhylmusic.com.
