More than thirty years on and Willy Russell's marvellous Blood Brothers no matter how strong a person you are never fails to move you.

A tale of of poverty, love, class, secrets and tragedy the journey is an emotional roller-coaster.

Based on the Johnstone Family, Mrs Johnstone (Lyn Paul) has previously been voted the definitive Mrs J, in 1997 she made her musical theatre debut in the West End smash hit and has reprised the role regularly over the past two decades - its easy to see why she was superb, emotionally drained at the end as she sang the spine tingling Tell Me Its Not True she had given her all.

Her boys Mickey (Sean Jones) and brother Eddie (Mark Hutchinson) delivered super performances as seven year olds (nearly eight) they were highly amusing. I have seen Blood Brothers a number of times in which the hugely talented Sean has played the role of Mickey and is my favourite.

All of the cast were excellent with special mention for the affluent and childless Mrs Lyons (Sarah Jane Buckley) and Danielle Corlass (Linda) Mickey's pigtail school girlfriend and much suffering wife during her challenging marriage.

Sinister and compelling Dean Chisnall as the narrator foretells of the tragedy to come.

A brilliant show, you won't be disappointed - runs until Saturday, 22nd April  at the Bristol Hippodrome.
