Cherrington fronts onto the eastern side of Ryefield Road, standing close to the end of the short cul-de-sac and thus has negligible passing traffic. The property is approximately 1/2 mile east of Ross town centre, with many facilities within much closer walking distance. Nearby one will find building such as The Larruperz Centre and The Ryefield Centre. Viewed from Google Maps, one may perceive the property to located near to an industrial area however this is not the case. Description & history

Cherrington comprises a beautifully proportioned 5/6 bedroom stone built detached house, laid out on three levels and having a cellar beneath. The property is a little over a hundred years old, having many characteristics of Victorian design, but actually constructed we believe in early Edwardian times.The property was constructed by the Kemp family, formerly the proprietors of the principal building materials company in Ross, a name known to many in the town until taken over in recent years by Bradfords.The house was therefore constructed with the very best materials, and to the specific design of Mr Kemp senior, who we believe was a most particular man.

Period features

Certain of the photographs will give a good idea of the many period features present both within and outside the house. The accommodation stands beneath an attractive, clay tiled roof, with attractive blue painted barge boards to the gable ends, and has fine chimney pots above the stone and brick chimneys. There are fine quoin cornerstones and gothic style windows between the two prominent front bay windows.Internally, there is a wonderfully spacious and welcoming reception hall, with spectacular staircase and balustrading which continues all the way to the second floor, natural light flooding downwards from the superb large sky light over. Many rooms have coving or cornice to ceilings, and there is some wonderful wooden flooring.All main rooms are of generous proportions, there being three reception rooms, conservatory and 5/6 bedrooms. Wooden double gates in the front stone boundary wall open onto a gravelled approach drive which swings around in front of the house and also continues to the aforementioned outbuilding.Close to the front boundary is a superb mature Acacia tree, with shrubs and other young trees along the front boundary including Pyracantha, Photinia and others, whilst towards the front corner are some delightful spring flowers.The principal area of garden lies to the south of the property, and this is given over primarily to a large level lawn, overall max.
