The Offas Dyke footpath is a 177 mile National Trail footpath that closely follows the England/Wales border. It opened in 1971 from Prestatyn to Chepstow with Knighton sitting at the half way point with a visitors centre. Knighton has good facilities including a Leisure Centre, a hardware store, butchers, music shop and unique café's. There is also a Co-Op supermarket. A livestock market is still held in the town and there are rugby, football and golf clubs as well as many other social clubs. The town is famous for having one foot in Wales (Powys) and one foot in England (Shropshire) the boundary being the River Teme.
