THERE have been two weeks in a row where Covid cases have been recorded falling in Worcestershire, latest data shows.

Latest data from Public Health England (PHE) shows there were 6,231 county coronavirus cases in the week up to January 19 - a 5.6 per cent drop on the previous seven days - the PHE figures show.

The last time a rise was recorded for the county was January 8, when cases rose 3.1 per cent in a week to 9,149 cases.

The 6,231 figure is also the lowest recorded since the week up to December 27 when there were 6,338 cases.

But two of the county's six districts - Wychavon and Malvern - recorded rises.

Malvern had 628 cases in the week to January 19, a one per cent rise, while in the week to January 4 there were 940.

Wychavon, which includes Droitwich and Evesham, had 1,360 Covid cases recorded in the week, an 11 per cent rise. In the week to January 4 there were 1,865 cases.

Worcester had 1,125 cases in the week to January 19, an 8.9 per cent fall. In comparison, in the seven days to January 4, there were 1,644.Bromsgrove has seen a 8.4 per cent fall to 1,081 cases in the latest week. That is compared to 1,835 in the week to January 4.

Redditch had 862 cases recorded in the latest week a fall of 8.1 per cent. In the week to January 4 there were 1,705 cases.

And Wyre Forest, which includes Kidderminster, had 1,175 cases, a fall of 16 per cent in the week to January 19. In comparison, to January 4, there were 1,998 cases.

Meanwhile 10 people died from coronavirus across 'all settings' the latest week of Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures reveal.

Two Worcester residents died, both at home.

Three people from Malvern died; two at home and one in hospital.

Four people from Bromsgrove died; one in care home, one at home, one in hospital and one in a communal establishment.

And one person from Wyre Forest died in hospital.

No one from Wychavon or Redditch died in that week, and no one from the county died in a hospice.

The 10 deaths, in the week up to January 14, means a total of 1,519 people have so far died for Covid-19 in 'all settings' in Worcestershire.
