THE number of new coronavirus cases recorded in the county fell slightly in the last week according to the latest figures.
A total of 2,233 cases were recorded in Worcestershire in the week up to October 3 – a fall of one per cent compared to the week before.
Cases fell by more than 12 per cent in a week in Worcester to 189 with cases also falling in Wychavon, Bromsgrove and Redditch.
A total of 464 cases were recorded in Wychavon, which includes Evesham, Pershore and Droitwich, in the week up to October 3 – a drop of five per cent when compared to the previous seven days.
New coronavirus cases also fell in Bromsgrove to 445 – a fall of three per cent – and a total of 479 cases were recorded in Redditch where cases fell by seven per cent in the week but still remained the highest total among the county’s six districts.
Two districts in Worcestershire saw the number of new cases rise including Malvern Hills where a total of 200 cases were recorded in the week – a rise of six per cent compared to the week before – and an 18 per cent rise in Wyre Forest saw a total of 456 cases recorded.
The latest NHS England figures show a total of 428,109 people have so far been vaccinated against Covid in Worcestershire having received two jabs – around 83 per cent of the county’s population.
As of October 5, as many as 38 people were in hospital in the county with Covid including three people in intensive care.
One person with coronavirus was also in the care of Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust according to the NHS figures.
