A TEAM providing mental health care to Redditch and Bromsgrove residents has been nominated for a prestigious award.
As part of the Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards 2021, The Redditch and Bromsgrove Psychiatric Home Treatment team has received a nomination for the Mental Health Award.
Based at Hill Crest in Redditch, they are part of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust.
They are a specialist mental health team that consist of psychiatric nurses, non-medical prescribers, psychiatrists, social workers and support workers.
The role of the team is to provide intensive acute mental health care as an alternative to hospital admission or 72-hour mental health crisis intervention.
The home treatment team have continued to provide face to face help for people experiencing a period of acute mental illness such as depression, personality disorders, bi polar disorder and schizophrenia, or a mental health crisis.
The team has also provided a substantial amount of mental health support to those who have found lockdown challenging on their mental health.
They will also assist people with various social problems that have an impact on their emotional wellbeing such as ensuring they have access to food parcels, assisting people applying for benefits, helping and signposting people for help with housing issues and debts.
The team only consist of eight clinicians working on a shift rota.
A spokesperson for the Redditch and Bromsgrove Psychiatric Home Treatment team said: “On behalf of the team we are really proud to have been nominated for this award. The team works really hard to support people experiencing mental health difficulties so they can retain their independence at home and continue to lead fulfilling lives and we are really humbled to have been recognised in this way.”
